The John Anderson Building, Rottenrow East, Strathclyde University. Features Grey Basalt Planc stone cladding linear strips applied to exterior façade.
 
Installed almost 10 years ago, the Grey Basalt Planc™ is an innovative product still unique to this day, given its dense, polished basalt finish and its precision machine cut edgings. Strong and yet relatively lightweight with 12mm thickness, it consists of sets sizing 800mm in length and heights of 140/80/60mm wide. The uniform and consistent colour of the grey basalt material delivers a timeless look that is modern, smooth and low maintenance.

Norstone has recently supplied our new Lavastone Graphite Planc™ product to the Blue Credit Union in Cheynne, Wyoming in the USA.

The architects were Open Studio. The brilliant use of the Norstone Graphite Planc stone cladding, both internally and externally creates a beautiful harmonious work environment for all the employees and customers alike.

Combined with some attractive dark metals and offset with warm wooden canopies and panelling, the overall look is very modern and stylish.

There are virtually no limits to the application of Norstone and its stone cladding products.

An example of this is shown on this project. With a little imagination, if you want a large format version of the Platinum Aksent™,  this can be easily achieved by installing Platinum Planc™ panels in the same format as the Aksent. The design uses Aksent™ for the smaller, higher walls, and then the lower, larger walls are clad in Planc™ with a pattern that matches the Aksent panel above - as both cladding systems are using our exclusive Platinum lava stone, the finished look is perfectly matched.

On a technical level, the look is achieved by having the panels sit slightly proud of each other, made by making the bedding thickness greater…ensuring that no compressed bedding thickness is greater than 18mm. The loose pieces of Planc™ are arranged in the same pattern as Aksent panels, and...
