Where can I buy Norstone UK products? Please email us via our contact page and someone from Norstone UK will contact you directly on how to purchase our natural stone products. How does the cost of Rock Panels compare to a typical stacked stone veneer wall? Since there is far less labour involved in installing Rock Panels compared with hand stacking individual stones, the installation cost of our Rock Panels can be as little as half or one third of the total cost of building a typical stacked stone veneer wall. How does the cost of Rock Panels compare to imitation stone panels or faux brick tiles? Norstone UK natural stone Rock Panels are very competitive compared with imitation stone panels. However, the difference in the quality of our products will be immediately obvious. What is the lead time for Norstone UK products? Norstone UK and its distributors strive to keep plenty of stock and on hand to meet our customers' needs. Customers are encouraged to email us via our contact page to check stock before placing any order. The vast majority of small and medium size orders will be available for dispatch within 24 hours. INSTALLATION OF OUR STONE PRODUCTS How do I calculate the quantity of stone panels I need? Measure each area and allow the standard 10% extra for wastage. If outside corners are present in the building project, measure the height of all the outside corners and contact your Norstone UK representative to make sure you order the right mix of field units and corner panel units for your project. How are Norstone UK products fixed? Norstone products should be fixed in a continuous running bond pattern, ensuring vertical seams do not line up from one course to another. Which adhesive does Norstone UK recommend? We recommend a polymer modified tile thinset that meets or exceeds ANSI 118.4 and ANSI 118.11 adhesion standards. We have developed MVIS (Masonry Veneer Installation System) with market leaders Laticrete and offer a unique dual warranty when used in accordance with instructions How are Norstone UK products cut? Norstone UK products are ideally cut on a wet tile saw with a continuous diamond rimmed blade. In the event a tile saw cannot perform the necessary cut, such as a curve, a hand held angle grinder can be used to cut the stone. Are Norstone products easy to install? Most competent home handymen can install Norstone products, particularly those with experience of tiling. In fact, both Rock Panels and Lynia™, PLANC™ and Aksent™ stone tiles have been featured on the DIY Network because they are easy to use and great looking. If a professional is to be hired to do the work, a tiler is the ideal trades person. Do Norstone UK products require mechanical fixing? Mechanical fixing may be necessary when your installation reaches a certain height, sometimes as low as 3 metres depending on the structural engineering of the wall the stone is being installed on. However, in our experience it is hardly ever required but please consult your architect or engineer and check local building regulations for specific requirements. Do Norstone UK products need sealing? We always recommend Norseal as it helps maintain the colour integrity of the stone and repels staining. Sealants may be essential for certain Rock Panel installations, for example: a kitchen back splash, walk in shower, or exterior water feature. Consult your Norstone UK representative to determine if sealing would be a good option for your project. All Basalt Interlocking Stone Wall tile installations should be sealed to preserve the look and feel of this honed polished stone. Sealants may also be used on any stone installation if a colour enhanced look or different sheen is desired. Always use a penetrating water based sealant according to the manufacturer’s application instructions and test it out on a piece of stone before applying the application to the rest of the wall cladding. Are Norstone products easy to maintain and look after? Yes! Natural stone is very robust, easy to keep clean and does not fracture, deteriorate or lose colour with age. The only maintenance needed on Norstone products should involve cleaning the surface contaminants (dust, dirt, etc) using water and a mild detergent with a stiff bristled brush. If the stone is sealed, the stone should continue to be re-sealed as per the manufacturer’s recommendations and timeline. |
